Elizabeth Gilmour is Pilates certified since 1987, has a dance background and has travelled and lived in many parts of the world. She is an Exercise Physiologist with the American College of Sports Medicine; Principal Pilates Practitioner with the Studio of Dance; athletic trainer with the American Council on Exercise and a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Mrs Gilmour trained under Isabelle Hill in England: Isabelle was a retired French Ballerina who taught Pilates in London, England. Isabelle Hill worked with Joseph Pilates before he moved away from Europe and kept in contact during his time in New York. Isabelle Hill is credited with continuing the raw beginnings of the Pilates method in England from those very early days. After studying under Isabelle Hill, Mrs Gilmour eventually moved back to the United States where she studied under Christie Brehm in Texas. Christie Brehm was trained by Ron Fletcher, and Ron Fletcher was trained by Joseph Pilates. The depth of knowledge and understanding of Pilates gained from this quality of training has been carried into the current generation by Mrs Gilmour at Pilates of Champions where she has continued in the true spirit of Pilates neuromuscular exercise and added many innovative exercises across the full range of equipment. A few moments spent with Mrs Gilmour will quickly reveal a wealth of knowledge, practical application and teaching experience in Pilates and exercise physiology. Her development and teaching of Pilates neuromuscular exercise are considered among the best in the world. This knowledge she is now passing along to a new generation of teachers at the Americas School of Pilates Practitioners. Her certification program for new instructors focuses on the original neuromuscular Pilates principles along with physiology and kinesiology and carries forward the innovative exercise programs and teaching methods she has developed at Pilates of Champions.

Liah - Senior Instructor

Liah has a background in gymnastics, ballet and dance. She is now well on her way to full certification as a Pilates practitioner over the full range of Pilates equipment. She trained in ballet at The American Academy of Dance (Houston Dance Theater) as well as attended various summer workshops which included: Gil Rome's Summer Program (Studio of Dance, Inc.), The International Ballet Competition, Joffrey Midwest, The Joffrey Ballet School's Summer Program, and Craft of Choreography. Liah subsequently moved to New York City where she performed with The Children's Company. After moving back to Houston, Liah commenced her Pilates certification at the Americas School for Pilates Practitioners under the instruction and guidance of Elizabeth Gilmour. Now working as as a teacher at Pilates of Champions, Liah continues the traditions of the studio in providing excellence in Pilates instruction while bringing her own personality and innovation to her teaching style.

Lindsay -  Instructor

Lindsay is a registered nurse (RN) and has a background in competitive sports, having played soccer for 12 years. She started with Pilates of Champions as a client in early 2008 seeking an alternative to her standard workout routine of running and weight training which were taking a toll on her hip and knee joints as well as her back.  She quickly realized from firsthand experience  how Pilates was benefitting her by strengthening her whole body structure and improving joint mobility, especially important for a practicing nurse experiencing significant physical demands as part of her daily work. Lindsay, with a long standing interest in physiology and exercise, became interested to learn more about Pilates both from a personal and professional development viewpoint. With this in mind, she began her Pilates Instructor certification program under the tutelage of Elizabeth Gilmour at the Americas School for Pilates Practitioners in mid 2008. Having now completed the early stages of her certification program, Pilates of Champions is delighted to have Lindsay onboard as a Pilates Instructor.

Anastasia - Senior Instructor

Pilates of Champions is excited to have Anastasia join the team as a senior instructor. Anastasia is currently studying for her full Pilates certification at Americas School for Pilates Practitioners. She has a background in ballet both as a performer and several  years of teaching experience.

Jeff Gudenkauf - Pilates of Champions

Jeff - Senior Instructor

(B.S. Kinesiology, A.C.E.)

Jeff was born and raised in Cedar Rapids, IA.  By the end of high school, he participated in nearly every competitive sport offered through the schools, including: baseball, basketball, bowling, cross country, soccer, tennis, track and field, and wrestling.  He achieved varsity letters in both cross country and tennis.  In college he was a member of the Iowa State Ultimate Frisbee Club team where he travelled to compete in collegiate tournaments across the country.  He was also the Treasurer of the Cyclone Disc Golf Club.  Wanting to share his passion for health and fitness, he pursued a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at Iowa State.  He became a certified personal trainer through the American Council on Exercise (A.C.E.) and began working one-on-one and in group sessions with clients through Iowa State's Recreation Services under Nora Hudson.  He also taught aerobics classes during his last semester at ISU.  After graduation, he moved to Houston, TX and is now working as a Pilates instructor under Elizabeth Gilmour at Pilates of Champions.
